About PeoplePerHour
PeoplePerHour (PPH) is a London-based freelance marketplace founded in 2007 and still founder-owned. It describes itself as the longest-running freelance service in the UK and says about 60% of its users are UK-based, with members in more than 100 countries. It has paid out over GBP 100 million to freelancers (vendor-reported).
Clients can hire in two ways. They can buy fixed-price Offers (formerly called Hourlies) directly from a catalogue, starting from around GBP 10, or post a project for free and let PPH's AI matching system send it to suitable freelancers, who reply with proposals. Hourly contracts with auto-pay are also supported. Payments sit in escrow until the client confirms they are satisfied, and PPH Customer Services handles disputes.
Fees reward long relationships. Freelancers pay 20% on the first GBP 250 billed with each client, 7.5% from GBP 250 to GBP 5,000 and 3.5% beyond that. Clients pay a service fee of 10% plus GBP 0.60 on most payment methods. Extra charges apply for currency conversion (2.5%), disputes, optional upgrades and dormant balances. Compared with Upwork, PeoplePerHour suits UK businesses that want quick fixed-price Offers in GBP, but its buyer fee is higher and its catalogue is smaller.

- 20% freelancer fee on the first GBP 250 billed with every new client.
- Client fee of 10% plus GBP 0.60 is high compared with other marketplaces.
- Extra fees for currency conversion, disputes, upgrades and dormant balances.
- Its Trustpilot profile has been removed, so there is little independent review data.
