About Fiverr

Fiverr is a freelance services marketplace built around Gigs: fixed-price service packages that freelancers publish with clear tiers, delivery times and optional extras. Founded in 2010 by Micha Kaufman and Shai Wininger, it is headquartered in Tel Aviv and listed on the New York Stock Exchange (FVRR). Services start at USD 5 and cover design, video, writing, programming, marketing, AI services and more.

Clients can buy a Gig directly, request a custom offer from a freelancer, or write a project brief (with AI help) and receive tailored offers. Hourly orders are also available. Fiverr Pro is a separate tier of hand-vetted freelancers with hourly or per-project hiring, a satisfaction refund guarantee, and access to a Business Success Manager. Clients pay at checkout, and after a delivery they have three days to respond before the order completes automatically; disputes go through the Resolution Center.

On fees, freelancers receive 80% of each cleared payment, so Fiverr keeps 20%, and earnings clear after a 14-day period (shorter for Top Rated and Pro sellers). Clients pay a 5.5% service fee on every payment, plus a small-order fee on low-value orders. There are no paid bidding credits for freelancers. Compared with Upwork, Fiverr is faster for well-defined tasks you can buy off the shelf; Upwork is better for open-ended or ongoing hourly work.
